Reilly Opelka advances to the Houston semi-finals after Michael Mmoh withdrew due to a right adductor strain. Opelka defeated Gijs Brouwer 6-3, 7-5 and will face Nick Kyrgios in the semi-finals. Opelka had to battle back from 1-3 down in the second set to match his semi-final effort on clay at the ATP Masters 1000 in Rome last May. His opponent, Reilly Opelka, was able to power through the opening set behind an early break. "It's huge," Opelka said of having more time to prepare for the tournament due to a first-round bye. "The bye weeks are nice, they really are, to come in a little later and have more time to prepare on the court." Opelka entered the ATP 250 event with an 0-4 main-draw record in Houston, but bounced back from his opening-stanza loss against Mitchell Krueger to win four sets in a row. The American will now face World No. Nick Kyrgios, who advanced via walkover. The Fayez Sarofim & Co. Men's Clay Court Championship is building on its first Houston victory with Opelka's semi-final berth.
